Life in the Future

Period 2 Reading Man Chuan Middle School Part one Talk about material analyzing The main content of this lesson is reading. This passage mainly tells what will the city of the future look like and how to run a city in the year of 2025. Four activity are designed this passage. The students will learn how to find the information quickly and accurately and also improve their reading skills through skimming and scanning. Part two Learner analysis Most of the students are not very good at learning English, so I must fully consider this point. Part three Talk about teaching aims. 1. Knowledge and skills: develop students reading ability. 2. Processes and methods: ①Train students reading ability through individual , pair work and group work. ② Fast reading to find information accurately. Hao XiaoLi

3. Affection and attitudes: develop students’ optimistic attitude to the life.
Part four Talk about teaching important points and teaching difficult

points. Teaching important points: train students reading skills.

Teaching difficult points: improve students reading ability and speaking ability.
Part five Talk about teaching methods. 1. Co-operative method for creative ideas. 2. Fast reading and careful reading. 3. Question-and-answer activity teaching method. Part six Talk about teaching procedures. Step 1 Lead –in Give students some beautiful picture about the city of future, and then ask them. 1. Do you like the city of future? 2. Since the life of the future is so beautiful, what should you do if we want to have a bright future? Step 2 Pre –reading 1. Ask students to read the title and predicate. What topic will they mention in the passage? 2. Studnents read the text again and check whether their answers are right or wrong. Step 3 Skimming Set some questions, and then ask them to work in pairs to answer these questions. Step 4 Scanning Careful reading Ask students to read the text again and decide if these sentences are true or false. Next, put the students into pairs to compare their answer. Finally, call back the answers from class.

Step 5 Read the text quickly and match the main idea with the paragraph. Step 6 Post –reading After students read the whole text, ask them to retell the passage with the help of the key phrases and words. Step 7 Summary and Homework Summarize the contents of this period and then gives the students assignment. Part seven Talk about teaching reflection. The key point for this lesson is two : ①How to help students improve their reading ability through skimming and scanning. ②How to help students retell the text according to the key words. So I designed different kinds of activity to arouse students’ interest if time permitted, I will help them further improve their reading ability.
