The students have learned some words about animals and toys; and the sentence patterns about ' I like... ' and ' Do you like... ?' through the first period and Grade One &Two. Passage 1: Look! This is my favorite toy. It’s a doll. It has brown hair. It has two big eyes. How pretty it is! I like my doll because it is lovely. Do you like it? Passage 2: Look at this robot. It’s big. Touch it, it is hard and smooth. It can sing. It can walk. I like my doll because it is super. It’s my favorite toy. Passage 3: I have a bicycle. It is blue. I can ride it on the playground. It is super. I like it very much. It’s my favorite toy. Passage 4: Look at this skateboard. I like it because it is my birthday’s present. It is green and grey. Commentary
This course is the second period of 3B M2U2. The main sentence patterns in this unit of toys are ' What do you like?' and ' I like… I don’t like…'. In the first period, they have learned the sentence pattern 'Do you like..?' I can teach this lesson through this pattern. The students in Grade Three also have the ability to write a composition, so teacher should focus on the cultivation of students' practical ability of using language. Because of their family background, learning attitudes and some other factors, the Grade Three students are quite different in English learning ability. The students have learned some words about animals and toys; and the sentence patterns about ' I like... ' and ' Do you like... ?' through the first period and Grade One &Two. The objectives are: 1. Using wh-questions to find out specific information. 2. Using modelled sentences to express one’s likes and dislikes. 3. Using modelled sentences to describe things. The difficulty is ' Using modelled sentences to express one’s likes and

dislikes '. The tasks are 1. Using wh-questions to find out specific information. 2. Using modelled sentences to express one’s likes and dislikes. 3. Using modelled sentences to describe things. I use four ways to teach new words and two ways to learn the sentence patterns. They are pair work and group work. Using rhymes, I can motivate students' passion and enthusiasm to learn this lesson. Using multi-media, I can create the real learning situation by its special effect, Through the multi-media demo gradually, teaching contents are shown and through the exercises, teaching contents are mastered. In procedure one, first I use two rhymes and some questions. The purpose is to create the atmosphere of learning English and transit to the topic. In procedure two, first I guide them to a toy shop so that the students can feel as if they were participating. Second they learn the new words through Sn; Sl; Sb/Sg. So every student can have several chances to say sad recite the words. After learning the words, students read after the recorder. It can help them have a general idea about the text and get familiar with the book for almost they won't read the book after class. Third, students learn the sentence pattern ' What do you like? I like…'by pair work. I designed the sentence pattern ' Which … do you like? Why? I like this… because it’s…' for some good students and the post-task activity. The group work is to give students a deep impression about the sentence patterns and they help each other in the group. The next exercises can help students consolidate the new words and sentence patterns. Students are required to write a short composition, so I designed an exercise ' Number the passage' in post-task activities according to their writing ability. For some students, they are unable to finish this in class, so they can finish it after class. That's all. Thank you.
