Becker-Warkop company, with headquarters in ?wierklany, Poland, was founded in 1991 and specializes in the production of transport systems, based on floor mounted and suspended railways for transporting materials/personnel to walls and faces. The company implements the most recent technological solutions and develops transport systems applied in mines. 1991 was the first year of production of KS-650/900/63/100 railway with 650 or 900 mm rail spacing and cable pulling force of 63 or 100 kN. The company introduced 95 such railways, from which 74 are still in operation. Cable railways have limited application due to the cable length and are gradually replaced by floor mounted rack-and-pinion railways, driven by electric or diesel motors. In 1998, a floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway type KSZ 650/900/30/60 was introduced to the transport products portfolio. 39 systems were commissioned, 32 of which are still operational. Based on up-to-date achievements, in 2003 a floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway with diesel engine type KSZS 650/900 was introduced. Today, 46 of such railways are in exploitation. In year 2005, a floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway was improved by the application of aggregates with power of 68 and 81 kW. The consecutive stage of development was year 2006, when, as a result of applying modern diesel-hydraulic aggregates, pulling force of 240 kN was achieved for floor mounted railways type KSZS. In year 2007, diesel-hydraulic aggregate was elaborated and implemented, with power of 125 kW, for the use in diesel floor mounted rack-and-pinion railways. Additionally, a suspended diesel rack-and-pinion monorail type KPZS-80 was introduced to exploitation, with 80 kW aggregate.

The introduction of a suspended railway type KPZS-80 eliminated the slippage of driving wheels during transportation in headings characterized by large dampness of air and dustiness. Year 2009 means the introduction of diesel-hydraulic aggregate for proprietary floor mounted and suspended railways. Thanks to the application of railways produced by Becker-Warkop it is possible to build extensive transport systems, beginning at the outset and ending at the face or longwall. Thanks to transport systems it is possible to transport heavy materials, such as complete powered roof support section – without disassembly, during reinforcing and decommissioning of longwalls. It must be also stressed that the utilization of transport systems manufactured by Becker-Warkop improves safety and efficiency of work. Together with the transport of materials it is possible to transport personnel. Becker-Warkop company has a broad portfolio of products associated with transporting by means of floor mounted and suspended railways. The use of such products makes it possible to completely mechanize the most dangerous operations, associated with handling sections and heavy elements of longwall equipment. In order to guarantee the efficient operation of transporting, we offer projects of transport systems, as well as technical consulting. Diesel floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway KSZS-650/900

Description Diesel floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway is intended for transporting personnel, powered roof support sections, heading machine elements, heavy elements of face conveyors and other devices during reinforcing and decommissioning of longwall headings or other transportation works.

Construction During the design process, operational experience from up-to-date exploited cable and rack-and-pinion railways with electrical drive was used. Railway components, such as tracks, transport set or auxiliary equipment, are identical in all floor mounted rack-and-pinion railways. All elements of a transport set are connected with a pull rods and additionally secured with safety cables. Transport of men and material can be realized on tracks with maximum permissible running-line inclination of ±30? and transverse inclination of ±10?.

Maximum pulling force with one drive trolley for Diesel locomotives with power of 68-80 kW is 120 kN, whereas for Diesel locomotives with power over 120 kW – 160 kN. For Diesel locomotives with power over 120 kW it is possible to work in a 1 or 2 drive trolley set with pulling force of 120 kN or 240 kN. Aggregates and cabins are compatible and can be used both in floor and suspended railways.

Diesel locomotive is connected with transport set, by means of pulling rods, in different configurations depending on the kind of load. It is generally assumed that platforms with transported material or personnel are pulled. It is though allowed to push transported goods or personnel on platforms.

Maneuver drive – longwall reinforcing/decommissioning Maneuver drive is a special case of section transport. It takes place e.g. during longwall reinforcing process, where a section is transported by a locomotive (is pushed), which requires the application of special safety measures.

Drive track, laid on the floor, ensures forced guidance of a Diesel locomotive together with the set and protects it from derailing or turning over. Drive track elements of all floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway type KSZ and KSZS are compatible with each other.

Mechanization of transport operations For safe and efficient realization of transport operations it is possible to apply the following devices built-in to the driving track route: Retractable ramp with ending rail – allows loading and unloading material from platforms Loading-unloading wedge – used to load powered roof support sections from the floor to a platform and the other way around. Loading/unloading device UZR-1 – used to load and unload sections or large and heavy elements of machines and equipment.

Electric floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway KSZ-650/900/0/60-A

Description Floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway type KSZ-650/900/30/60-A is assigned to transporting powered roof support sections, elements of heading machines, face conveyors during reinforcing/decommissioning of longwalls. Transport by means of a railway includes longwall headings and galleries. The railway is used as an independent transport device in a reinforced (decommissioned) wall, or has the role of extending the transport system with different means of transport.

Basic components of a floor mounted rack-and-pinion railway are: Driving track of 650 or 900 mm width Locomotive – used for moving the transport set on tracks. Drive transfers the rotational moment from the electric motor through coupling, intersecting axes planetary transmission to gear wheels, and finally to drive cog wheels. Self-locking, three-phase inductive motor is equipped with a frictional brake, pressed against by means of springs and loosened by an electromagnet. Control of motors is achieved remotely by means of radio control system. On a locomotive, apart from electric motors, there are also reflectors, as well as sensors and switches mounted. Electrical power supply is realized by means of a rubber-coated cable, dragged on the floor.

Transport set – consists of a platform with connecting pulling rod and two safety ropes. According to the needs of the user, it is possible to use platforms with load-carrying capacities: 100, 150, 0, 0, 50 [kN]

Floor mounted rope driven railway type KS-650/900/6/100

Description Floor mounted rope driven railway type KS-650/900/63/100 with track spacing 650 or 900 mm and pulling force of 63 or 100 kN is intended to realize the following transport tasks in underground headings of mines: transport of materials directly on platforms or in containers (e.g. loose materials), of long loads to ,5 m, as well as loads with large dimensions, including machine parts powered roof support sections, etc. in horizontal headings and headings with inclination to ±0? transport of personnel in cabins mounted on carrying or pulling-carrying platforms and on braking trolleys in horizontal headings and with inclination to ±5? simultaneous transport of materials and personnel in a cabin mounted on a breaking trolley in horizontal headings and in ones with inclination to ±5?

Floor mounted rope driven railway route can be laid in mining headings on all kinds of floors, including sandy floors. .

Construction Floor mounted rope driven railway consists of the following main units: driving unit rope drive tracks with roller assemblies guiding tensioning stationcable return station transport set electronic equipment Transport set can be composed of: pulling-carrying platform with load-carrying capacity of 100, 150, 00 kN braking trolley type: 60, 90, 10 or 10 carrying platform 100, 150, 0, 0, 50 kN trolley with a drum for redundant rope connecting pull rods cabins for personnel At the end of the route there is a returning station, which can be of various construction, depending on the needs. When forming the transport set, a general rule is obeyed that it should consist of the minimal amount of indispensable components. Selection of subassembly of the driving unit, including amount and distribution in the set, can be arbitrary according to the user’s needs. Every set must have one braking trolley, which can be placed in any place in the driving set and one pulling-carrying platform.

Railway is driven by an endless rope guided in various sets of rollers, which enables transporting in headings with variable inclination, i.e. with sheers and dips, as well as on arcs. Driving track consists of repeated sections of straight and arc rails, adapted to the route.

Maximum weight of transported load units depends on the applied platforms in a transport set and can reach maximum of 35T for one platform. Railway type KS-650/900/63/100 is suited to transporting personnel in cabins mounted on top of pulling-carrying platforms or on a braking trolley. Control station is equipped with indicators and allows controlling and monitoring of railway operation correctness (indicators of: pressures, driving speed, distance covered, interlocking devices). During the travel, driving speed can be regulated based on movement conditions.

Depending on conditions of a localization and needs, the following tensioning stations can be used: proportional pneumatic – in versions: single and double hydraulic – in versions: single and double weight-based

Description Suspended frictional railway is intended to transport personnel and materials, such as powered roof support sections, elements of heading machine, heavy parts of push-plate conveyors, as well as materials for reinforcing and decommissioning of longwall headings. Such railway is also used for other transport tasks.

Diesel monorail with rack-and-pinion drive type KPZS

Description Diesel suspended monorail with rack-and-pinion drive KPZS 80 is used to transport personnel, materials and devices, such as powered roof support sections, elements of heading machines, heavy elements of face conveyors, during reinforcing or decommissioning of longwall headings, as well as other transportation tasks. Railway can be used as an independent transport equipment, or as an extension for transport realized by other means.

Construction Main components of the railway are: Diesel locomotive driving track equipped with a rack transport set – including equipment for personnel and material transport transport set protection, i.e. braking trolleys of a permitted type. Main components of a Diesel locomotive are: Diesel-hydraulic aggregate four HZA drives two operator cabins mechanical connecting elements and sets of wires and cables for energy and signal transfer Hydraulic drives I, II, III and IV have the same construction and are composed of: Hydraulic drive is equipped with hydraulically loosened spring-applied multiplate frictional brake, fulfilling the function of a safety and parking brake, which braking force is at least 37,5 kN. Diesel locomotive is composed of constructional units, connected with each other by means of joints, which allows achieving optimal maneuverability. Modular construction makes it possible to adjust the set to differing exploitation conditions. Hydraulic rack-and-pinion drive type HZA cooperates with suspended track route with profile I 155 with rack-and-pinion rack, which has carrying and leading function. Main drive element is hydraulic radial piston engine, which rotary moment is transferred to the rail by means of a cog wheel pushed against the toothed rack.

Universal drive track type BWTU-50/100 for suspended railways

Description Track is used for suspended railway with rack-and-pinion or frictional drive and rope drive ( after building pulleys set) Transport set used for material and personnel transport (or both at the same time) can moves on this track.

Optimal solution is constructing the transport set in such a way, so the operator cabin of a locomotive is mounted in front of the transport set, in the direction of travel. Hydraulic drives should work in arrangements: 2+2 or 2+1 driving units. It is advised to configure hydraulic drives in a pull-push mode. Transport set should be protected by means of braking trolleys.

Transport set should be connected by a safety cable. Configuration of transporting set is selected by a dispatcher in mining facility, after consulting the manufacturer of a railway.

Description Two-wing automatic air stopping is suited to mounting in longwall ventilation headings, in which travelling of transport sets, i.e. railways, should be possible Two-wing automatic air stopping, allows completing operations of opening, sustaining of blockage of its opening and closing when transport sets must drive through without stopping, obeying safety regulations, required by law.

Range of application Two-wing automatic air stopping can be applied in longwall ventilation headings with longitudinal inclination of max. ±30 ? . Transverse inclination of a heading with the use of air stopping can amount ±10 ? . Control system equipment includes spark-safe control, signaling and blocking systems. Heading cross-section size, as well as its lining, can be arbitrary, as long as opening of doors assures keeping movement distances required by suitable regulations, when a transport set is passing by.

Pneumatic suspended rack-and-pinion- railway DZK

Description Pneumatic suspended rack-and-pinion locomotive DZK is intended to be used for transporting heavy elements of machines and equipment, as well as transporting material over small distances in underground mine headings with inclination max. ±30?. Suspended locomotive can be used as an independent transport device, or can cooperate with other means of transport, providing such cooperation is possible. DZK locomotive moves along the suspended driving rack-and-pinion track. It moves on driving rollers on lower shelves of track rails. Locomotive drive unit is a pneumatic motor, which drives a toothed wheel. Drive is transferred from the motor to the toothed wheel by means of a startup-overload coupling and three-stage planetary transmission. A spring- applied multiplate brake is incorporated in the drive and loosened by means of compressed air after locomotive startup. During locomotive parking, drive-brake wheel is immobilized by the pressure applied by brake springs.
