Look at the following four groups of pictures. Tick those that show good manners and complete the sentences below. Step 4. 1. I accepted the invitation and I’m very excited, but I’m not sure about the manners. * accept (主观)接受; receive (客观)收到 e.g. I received an invitation to their New Year’s party, but I didn’t accept it because I had something important to do. Yesterday the man received much money, but he didn’t accept them. * manner “方式;态度“; manners(复数)礼貌;礼仪 e.g. He spoke in such a manner as to offend them. 他用这种方式讲话,以致冒犯 了他们。 His manner showed his anger . 他的态度表明了他的愤怒。 Mind your manners. 注意你的行为举止。 It is bad manners to stare at others. 盯着别人看是不礼貌的。 He has no manners at all. 他毫无礼貌。 Aren’t you forgetting your manners? 你是不是没礼貌了? I don’t object to what she says, but I strongly disapprove of her manner of saying it. 我不反对她说的话,但她说这话的方式我很反感。 * sb. be sure of / about sth. 2. First of all, you’d better bring a small gift, such as flowers or candy. * such as 像….那样的, 诸如…..之类的 e.g. The children saw a lot of animals in the zoo such as tigers, lions, monkeys, deer and elephants. * first of all 3. Don’t overstay your welcome, either. 也不要呆得过久而不受欢迎。 * overstay 停留(过久的时间) overstay one’s leave 超假 4.
