About the introduction
1.The introduction should be brief but clear. It introduces the reason, the place, the time and the people of the event. 2.Usally it begins with the time, such as One day/Yesterday/Last Saturday/One Sunday morning/on July 31,2006/It was one of my summer holidays.

About the beginning and the development
1.The beginning and the development describe something happened in the event, so sometimes you can join the two parts into one. 2. You need to use some linking words such as first, then, after that, while, in the end and so on to tell the order of the event.

About the conclusion
1.The conclusion plays an important role in a composition. A good conclusion can cause readers to sympathize and think further. 2.Usually a description of an event ends with personal feelings, such as It was a great party./I felt very happy./My heart was full of joy./ I’ll never forget…/It was the happiest time in my life and so on.

Write a description of an event with over 100 words, reading Writing Help 3 on page 91 for reference.

Work in groups, read each other’s descriptions. Give each other ideas on how to improve or correct your descriptions. Decide which description is the best.

Self-correction
Remember to improve or correct it after you write it out for the first time. (1) Can you add any adjectives to make the description more interesting? (2) How about the irregular past tenses in the description? (3) Has your description included any linking words? (4) Any punctuation and spelling mistakes?

To thank the god making their crops growing, the Celts offered their crops and dead animals and also they danced in costumes made from animal heads and skin for 3 days.

they invaded Europe?

The Romans.
3. What festivals did the Catholic Church in Europe invented on 1 November and later another one on 2 November? And for What did it invented the festivals?

The Catholic Church in Europe invented All Hallows Day on 1 November to honour the saints, and later it invented All Souls Day November 2 to honour dead people.

4. How did people in Europe celebrate All Souls Day?

People made big bonfires and dressed up as angels, devils, saints, and witches.They also lit candles made of hollowed-out pumpkins to frighten away ghosts.
5. Why did people give food to other people traveling from village to village on the night of All Souls Day?

People believed that anyone who didn’t give food would have bad luck.

Halloween is related to celebration of the year’s harvest and a holiday to honour the dead.
