Very few people look forward to and enjoy exams. That doesn’t have to mean that you should be afraid of them，though. The following tips will help you get through that terrible exam period. Here are eight steps to help you during exams： 1．Make sure you know how much time you will have in the exam and how many questions there will be. Then you can divide your time among the questions to make sure they all get answered. 2．When you’re doing an exam that involves long answers，it is a good idea to leave some space at the end of the answer so that you can add any extra comments that might come to mind when you reread your paper. 3．Don’t spend all of your time only on questions that you know answers to because you will get a worse mark for answering some questions very well and some not at all. 4．It is worth taking a little extra time to make sure that your handwriting is neat. The examiner will be able to read it！Try to avoid spelling mistakes too! 5．The more prepared you are, the more likely you are to succeed. 6．Keep calm. If you feel yourself getting worried，take a deep breath. 7．Don’t try to discuss the exam after you’ve finished it. If you’ve got different answers from your friends，there’s no point in worrying about it. 8．Once an exam is over，just forget about it. There is nothing more you can do about it. The best thing you can do is to go home and prepare for the next one. 21．The underlined word “avoid” in the passage most probably mean“______”． A． check out B． go over C． think about D． prevent sth. from happening 22．You can get a better mark if ______. A． you spend all of your time on questions that you are good at B． you talk about with your teachers before exams C． you go over your notes carefully for the exam D． you leave out the questions you don’t know the answers to 23．The passage is probably written for ______. A． people who mark exam papers B． people who take exams C． high school teachers D． language learners 24．Which of the following will NOT help you to deal with exams? A． Divide your time among the questions during the exam. B． Take a deep breath when you feel worried. C． Keep your handwriting neat. D． Discuss the answers with your friends after exams.
The Gold Coast family holidays are always great fun whether you are from Australia or from abroad. There are beautiful beaches, adventure parks, nature parks and so much more. There are so many sights to see here. It is a pity to drive in a car and you’ll miss a great part of it. Australia is home to many animals and birds that can only be seen when moving slowly and
going into the areas that they live. When you are on a bicycle, you have the advantage of being able to stop whenever you want to see an interesting animal or bird that you have never seen before. It is a quieter mode （方式） of transportation as well, so you might even be able to take a picture. When you are on the beach, you can breathe that clean air and view the beauty of the water and sand. It is a totally different experience from either simply sunbathing or passing it in a car. There are many choices of hiring a bicycle to experience the Gold Coast attractions. There are stores that will fit a bike perfectly to your size. These bikes for both adults and children are in many styles and colors to please any taste. If you have ever wanted to try a tandem bike（双人单 车）, now is your chance, because they have those too. A bicycle hire on Gold Coast is something that everyone should try at least once. About six years ago I was eating lunch in a restaurant in New York City when a woman and a young boy sat down at the next table. I couldn’t help overhearing parts of their conversation. At one point the woman asked, “So, how have you been?” And the boy who could not have been more than seven or eight years old replied, “Frankly, I’ve been feeling a little depressed lately.” This incident stuck in my mind because it strengthened my growing belief that children are changing. As far as I can remember, my friends and I didn’t find out we were “depressed” until we were in high school. The evidence of a change in children has increased steadily in recent years. Children don’t seem childlike any more. Children speak more like adults, dress more like adults and behave more like adults than they used to.
Whether this is good or bad is difficult to say, but it certainly is different. Childhood as it once was no longer exists. Why? Human development is based not only on born biological states, but also on patterns of access to social knowledge. Movement from one social role to another usually involves learning the secrets of the new situation. Children have always been taught adult secrets, but slowly and in stages: traditionally, we tell sixth graders things we keep hidden from fifth graders. In the last 30 years, however, a secret-revelation machine has been fixed in 98 percent of American homes. It is called television. Television passes information, indiscriminately, to all viewers alike, whether they are children or adults. Unable to resist the temptation, many children turn their attention from printed texts to the less challenging, more vivid moving pictures. Communication through print, as a matter of fact, allows for a great deal of control over the social information to which children have access. Reading and writing involve a complex code of symbols that must be memorized and practised. Children must read simple books before they can read complex materials. 29．Traditionally, a child is supposed to learn about the adult world _________ . A. through touch with society B. gradually and under guidance C. naturally and by biological instinct D. through exposure to social information 30．In the author’s opinion, the phenomenon that today’s children seem adultlike is caused by _____. A. the constantly rising standard of living B. the poor arrangement of teaching content C. the fast step of human intellectual development D. the widespread influence of television 31．Why is the author in favor of communication through print for children? A. It can control what children are to learn. B. It develops children’s interest in reading and writing. C. It helps children to memorize and practise more. D. It enables children to gain more social information. 32．What does the author think of the change in today’s children? A. He feels amused by the children’s adultlike behavior. B. He thinks it is a phenomenon worthy of note. C. He considers it a positive development. D. He seems to be upset about it.

If something that you're doing doesn't challenge you, then it doesn't change you. We all need some normal stress in our lives, after all． 36 So challenge the following limits: 1. Figure out what you're scared of and do it continuously． If you're a salesman, and you're scared of talking to people personally or over the phone, now, instead of being scared and thinking you’ll fail, spend at least five minutes a day to pick up the phone and make a call. 37 But don't stop on the first try! Eventually, you can look at fear in the eyes and say, "Go on, I'm not scared!" 2. 38 Make sure this hobby is not linked to your career; you have to relax and relieve your stress while performing this. Some examples might be cooking, sewing, painting and so on. Apart from helping you challenge yourself, taking a class for your hobby may also give you extra income． 3. Set aside at least nine minutes a day for physical exercise． 39 A simple 9-minute run around your neighborhood can do wonders for yourself. Exercise can not only help you maintain your regular weight, but also make you feel better about yourself． 4. Travel and allow yourself to be interested in new people． Don't just limit yourself to your fellow travelers ---- try to connect with the service staff. You never know what kind of people they're going to be. Get out of your house or go online right now
to book your class.
A. You should do it continuously． B. Someone may hang up on you． C. You don't need to go to the gym． D. Running in the gym may be a better choice． E.
