B Despite(尽管) what poets would like you to believe, the natural world is not always a friendly place. It is full of dangerous creatures, and some of the most dangerous are the smallest: the bacteria (细菌), viruses (病毒) and parasites (寄生虫) that kill millions of people every year. But it is possible, with a bit of luck and a lot of hard work, to turn nature against itself in order to help humans. And that is why Tu Youyou, an 84-year-old researcher at the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was given the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine on Oct 5. She is the first Chinese citizen (公民) to win a Nobel Prize in science. Tu discovered a new drug for malaria (疟疾). The disease infects around 200 million people and make about half a million people die each year, according to the Economist. Tu shared the prize with Irish-born William Campbell and Satoshi Omura of Japan for discovering a new drug to treat parasitic diseases. Tu was originally trained in traditional Chinese medicine. In the late 1960s, during the Cultural Revolution (1966-76), Tu and her colleagues joined a government project to find a new malaria drug. They made 380 herbal extracts (草药提取物) from 200 recipes, which came from traditional Chinese medical books. The team then tested them on malaria-infected mice. That was when Tu became interested in an extract of a plant called sweet wormwood (qinghao). According to an ancient Chinese medicine book, the qinghao plant was once used to treat malaria. However, the extract they made in the lab didn’t work very well. Tu thought that the effective ingredient(成分) in qinghao was being destroyed by high temperatures. So she tried to make the extract with an ether (乙醚) that has a much lower boiling point than water. In 1971, after failing more than 190 times, Tu finally made an extract that was 100 percent effective against malaria parasites. The extract was called qinghaosu, later renamed artemisinin. Thanks to Tu’s hard work, artemisinin has saved millions of lives, especially in the developing world. According to the World Health Organization, by 2013, malaria deaths had fallen by 47 percent compared with 2000. “The discovery of artemisinin is a gift to mankind from traditional Chinese medicine,” Tu told The Beijing News. “It has also provided humankind with powerful new means to combat ( 对抗) these diseases that affect hundreds of millions of people every year,” said the Nobel Prize Committee, “and it has greatly improved human health and reduced suffering.”

Tu finally chose to make the extract with an ether because it has a much higher boiling point than water. D. Artemisinin had made malaria deaths fall by 47 percent by 2013 according to the World Health Organization. 66. Which is the right order of the process of finding artemisinin? a. In the late 1960s, during the Cultural Revolution (1966-76), Tu and her colleagues joined a government project to find a new malaria drug. b. The team then tested them on malaria-infected mice. c.
To make our digestive (消化的) system work well, we should avoid doing some things after having a meal, for example, drinking water. It is true that a person should drink 8 glasses of water every day to stay healthy. However, drinking water right after eating or even during a meal may disrupt (扰乱) digestion. It might affect the natural levels of acid and bile (酸和胆汁) that are necessary for proper digestion. What’s more, drinking cold water after eating might slow down （减慢）digestion. So try to avoid drinking water at least an hour after a meal, and avoid drinking it while eating. Though walking after eating is healthy, doing it immediately after a meal is not. Doing so will make it difficult for the digestive system to take in nutrients (营养) from the food. Besides, the blood will flow towards other parts of the body, like legs, hands, etc, which will make the digestive tract not have enough amount of blood flow that is needed for proper digestion. So we should wait for at least 2 hours after eating, and then begin exercising. Sleeping should also be avoided right after eating. This is because going to bed right after a meal will lead to improper digestion. What’s more, such a habit will also make you put on a lot of weight. Therefore, wait for an hour or two, and then go to sleep. Many of us have the habit of drinking tea just after lunch or dinner, which is really unhealthy.
The tea leaves are rich in （富含）acid which prevents the protein in the food from digesting. The best time to drink tea is at least one hour after eating. Eating fruits right after a meal may fill the stomach with air and cause discomfort. They will also take time to reach the digestive tract, disturbing the entire process of digestion. To protect your stomach from digestive problems, eat fruits before or after 1-2 hours of a meal. In a word, if you avoid doing all the above things after eating, you will surely make your digestion easy, and you will be less likely to have digestive problems. Things to avoid immediately after eating ● Drinking water immediately after eating or during a meal may disrupt digestion by (71)______ the natural levels of acid and bile. ● Drinking cold water after eating probably reduces the (72) ______ of （减少） digestion. ● Don’t drink water until at least an hour has passed after a meal. ● If we walk right after a meal, our digestive system will have (73)______ taking in nutrients from the food. ● Walking right after a meal can not result in (74)______ digestion by causing insufficient (不足的) amount of blood flow in the digestive tract. ● Don’t (75)______ out within two hours after eating. ● Going to bed right after eating can (77)______ the digestive system working properly. ● Going to bed right after eating can cause one to (78) _______weight. ● The tea leaves are (79)______ in a large amount of acid, which prevents the protein in the food from digesting. ● Drink tea at least one hour after eating. ● Eating fruits right after a meal may fill the stomach with air and make you feel (80)_________. ● Fruits should be eaten before or after 1-2 hours of a meal.

Recently our class held a heated discussion about whether our parents should be allowed to see our Moments. 30% of the students are for it. Firstly, as teenagers, we need our parents’ guidance in social experience. Secondly, Without parents’ involvement, the generation gap between our parents and us will become bigger and bigger. 70% of the students are against it. For one thing, Everyone needs some privacy. If parents are allowed to see our Moments, we won’t have our own secrets. For another thing, the Moments of WeChat is mainly a way of communicating with friends of our own age. If our parents are allowed to see it, we can’t share our thoughts with our friends freely. In my opinion, it is meaningful to let parents see our Moments, which makes them happy and stops them from worrying about me. Besides, our parents feel like seeing our Moments, which shows their care and love for us
